Acts of the Apostles

Hechos de los Apostoles

This commentary and Bible study guide is on the Acts of the Apostles, a book in the New Testament. It is written in the usual manner of this series, with easy to understand English, with North American idiom removed so as not to confuse readers in other languages or places who are not familiar with those expressions.

The book of Acts teaches about the early days of the Christian Church, after Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and then ascended up to Heaven with His disciples watching. Jesus had said to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit, and He did in a dramatic way. That day, called Pentecost, Peter preached to the growing crowd of curious onlookers, and 3000 believed and were added to the newly created Church.

The rest of Acts is full of stories of how the disciples and new believers spread the good news, or gospel of Jesus, in spite of severe persecution. It was that very persecution which drove the believers to other cities and countries and spread the gospel even more and more.

Even though it is called the "Acts of the Apostles" in the Bible, many Bible teachers and students of Acts are fond of saying that this book is an account of the "Acts of the Holy Spirit" working through the believers in great power and victory.

As you study each event and person in the book of Acts, you will also go along with Paul, who first persecuted the believers and then was powerfully arrested in his tracks by Jesus from Heaven, and who became one of the most articulate preachers, travelling to far away places to teach the truth of Jesus, His death for all who would believe, and the truths of the Bible. Paul was imprisoned for his preaching, and from various prisons wrote letters to the believers to teach and encourage them, and these very etters have become part of our Bible today.

As you read and study, and if in a group, discuss, the sections of information and the passages from the Bible, this book also provides you with simple little quizzes to help you review what you have learned and how to summarize it.

If you are considering a study of the Bible and would enjoy some exciting and dramatic stories, you will especially appreciate a good study of Acts. You may download and print this booklet out for your own use, or to use in small groups with others, or in your church.

We encourage you to print as many copies as you can use, but would also appreciate an email or note from you so that we can be blessed knowing how God is using this commentary on the Acts of the Apostles.

To print this commentary in Spanish, simply right-click with your mouse here: DOWNLOAD Hechos los de apostles (Acts), Then choose "Save As" on the fly up menu that appears. Guide the next window to the folder where you would like to save this book file, and click "open" or "save" on that window. When it finishes, it will be on your computer.

Now navigate to that saved file, and click or double-click (depending on your computer) to open the file. Use your usual printing commands to print first the odd number pages, and then turn the pages over and put into your printer again, and give the command to print the even numbered pages. (You may have to experiment a bit to get this to turn out right, so one side is not upside down, etc.) When done correctly the pages can be laid one on top of the other in sequence, then folded in the middle. You now have one copy of the book. You can print as many as your printer and ink supply will allow.

Spanish Evangelical Resources would like to be made aware of any print runs that you distribute. Not to control or hinder you, but help us know where our books are used, and what further resources to develop. Use our Contact form to notify Larry, the President.

When you disagree with a commentary, remember that God's Word, the Bible, supercedes any and all other commentaries.

The Great Need We See

Mayan church leaders in the Suchitepequez area of Guatemala where we serve have few reference books. A pastor in a western country may have 500-1000 books in his library. A Mayan pastor may have none at all. There are two primary reasons for this shortage of reference materials: the Mayans do not have the money to buy reference materials and low cost, Biblically sound reference materials are not available to them. Our burden is to make the much needed reference materials available to Mayan pastors, church leaders, and teachers through the training seminars we conduct in the area where they live.

These Bible Commentary booklets were born in the mind and heart of Fred Morris, who was concerned that people in many parts of the world needed to learn these precious truths about God and His Son Jesus, in their own language and in an affordable way. He wrote many such booklets. Learn more about Fred Morris and his wife Lorna at the mannapublications.org (USA) website.

Another website manna-publications.org.uk has an editor and others at work preparing more and more of Fred's books for free download in 4 languages so far. Western culture/jargon is removed and religious terms are explained. They are easy to translate into more languages. (Yes, this is a BIG project!)

This site is focused on providing the Spanish translations as free downloads, and other helpful materials in this bi-lingual Spanish/English website.
